Simchat Shabbat is a nonaffiliated program that reaches out to families in Irvine and the surrounding areas.  Simchat Shabbat recognizes that healthy, well fed families are happy families and to this end families in need receive food packages each week.  Food drives are held at various times throughout the year. To participate in these drives or to help hungry families please contact our office.

icon_hospital.jpgHospital Visitation
At Chabad we realize how frightening, overwhelming or simply lonesome being in the hospital can be, and that’s why we put such emphasis on visiting people in the hospital and bringing them a gift package with goodies, that show them we care. Chabad and its volunteers have visited numerous hospitals and senior homes bringing joy to many patients. Most importantly the patient is given the message that they are not alone.

Smile On Seniors is a unique volunteer program, created to enhance the lives of local seniors. Many of us have parents or family who are seniors, living alone or in senior facilities, that would greatly benefit from an extra visit from someone who isn’t family. Family can not always visit as often as desired, and not always is there someone else to supplement those visits. And that’s where Smile On Seniors steps in. SOS matches local volunteers with local seniors for a weekly visit, bringing joy and a sense of caring to many.  Additionally, before holidays our Hebrew School program visits senior centers to spread holiday cheer by singing and spending time with the residents.

icon_fooddrives.jpgYou Can Make a Difference
One small action can make one big difference: Visit with the homebound, pick up groceries, drive an elderly patient to a doctor's appointment, bring them your warmth and smile and make their day. Volunteer once a month or more.   Contact our office to get started.
